| About Biltmore OB/GYNObstetrics & Gynecology At Biltmore Obstetrics and Gynecology we have 5 obstetrician/gynecologists, 1 practicing gynecologist, and 1 nurse practitioner who provides both obstetric and gynecologic care. We have always been an all female practice and remain the only one in Asheville. Biltmore Ob-Gyn was founded in 1995 by Dr. Stacy Travis and Dr. Carole Saltzman. In 2000, the practice built a new single practice building in the developing Regional Medical Park on Sweeten Creek Road in Asheville. This location was ideal for several reasons. It has easy access from Interstate 40. Our building is located across the complex from the Asheville Surgery Center, a thoroughly modern and up to date outpatient surgical center with full Anesthesia services. Our practice is located down the street from a full service laboratory and near to several specialty medical practices, including dental, surgical, and ophthalmology. We provide surgical services both at the Asheville Surgery Center & Mission Memorial Hospital system (which includes St Joseph hospital). We utilize the Labor and Delivery unit at Mission Memorial Hospital which has 24 hour anesthesia and high risk maternal medicine services. It also has a level 3 neonatal unit which can take care of premature infants or those with problems. Obstetrics “On Call” System Currently, our physicians take turns being responsible to the hospital, in 24 hour shifts. This dramatically decreases the interruptions for our doctors seeing patients in the office. This also allows for emergency appointments and same day work-in visits with the “call doctor.” We feel this is the best way to balance the various needs of all our patients. Whether a patient requires our services at the hospital or in the office, it is always our goal to provide the best care possible to each individual |

Obstetrician-Gynecologists are physicians who possess special knowledge, skills and abilities in the medical and surgical care of the female reproductive system and associated disorders. They are consultants to other physicians in these areas and can provide many primary care services for women. As obstetricians, they care for the woman when she is pregnant. They have been trained to care for both the mother and the unborn child during both normal and complicated pregnancies. As gynecologists they care for the woman when she is not pregnant and treat both medical and surgical illnesses as well as provide preventative care.
